The Nun's Priest's Tale

  1. Through the tale, Chaucer conveys the message that trust is something that is earned over time. A fox encounters Chanticleer and tells him that he will not harm him. Chanticleer lowers his guard and trusts the fox. Then, the deceitful fox grabs him. If Chanticleer did not listen to him, he would not have been captured, which shows that trust is not earned instantaneously.

    1. I agree with Jon, I think Chaucer is showing that trust is something that must be earned and should not be given lightly. Chanticleer gives his trust to the fox before he had earned it.

  2. I think it is telling the the Nun would tell a tale of occurrences between animals rather than of love between people like the other stories. The Nun most likely does not want/can not tell a saucy story like the others and resorts to telling stories of animals.
